I quite enjoyed reading this. When I was at college, one of my favourite modules was 'Domestication and Evolution of the Horse' and I wish I had read this then. The author explores the genetic, fossil and current history of all sorts of equine species that live either totally wild or feral. Some of it does get a bit repetitive after a while, with lists of Latin named ancestors and discussions of migratory behaviour. My only other little niggle was the photographic plates are no where near the discussion on the animal in the photo - usually they were in completely the wrong chapter, which led to a lot of flicking back and forward. But other than that, I found it well written, easy to follow and with some great observations. I'm very glad I had the opportunity to give this a go.
