It was a great novel about pirates and time travel! What more could a pirate lover and lover of time travel ask for?! The premise was well thought out, with just enough complications to build suspense. I'm glad the book turned out with a happy ending. What made me happy, with a smile on my face, was all the pirate lore references in the beginning of the book, such as a reference to Treasure Island and several sea phrases sprinkled in for good measure. Hoffmann did a really good job with making the time traveler feel out of place with all the new terms, contraptions, and experiences, while still having them answer truthfully, but with a double meaning to their words. In the future, I will keep Kate Hoffmann's name in mind for further reading.

This is a typical time travel book (book #2) in a series by Harlequin Temptation. The hero, Griffin Rourke, is a privateer brought forward in time by Meredith Abbott. 'Merrie' is a teacher and budding novelist. The plot is mediocre and the chemistry between the two is mild. If you enjoy time travel romances and don't care if there is much substance or intrigue, you may enjoy it. I thought is was 'OK' at best. The Cowboy (Rogues Across Time, #1))by Kristine Rolofson The Outlaw (Rogues Across Time, #3) by JoAnn Ross The Knight (Rogues Across Time, #4) by Sandy Steen The Highwayman (Rogues Across Time, #5) by Madeline Harper
